I haven't posted in awhile since life has been pretty busy. I'm currently on summer break from school and working as a 5-8th grade summer school teacher. For a long time, I just didn't want to care about anything, fashion included. I really wanted to be normal and find myself. Now that I've cleared my mind a bit, I should be posting somewhat regularly again! Last weekend, I went to a family friend's wedding at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and like all weddings, it was beautiful. And the food! Delicious.

I'm pretty disappointed with the final line-up for the Korean Music Festival. I was really hoping Big Bang would be included since they changed the dates to accomodate an artist, but I guess not. Since yesterday was also April Fools, I totally fell for the Big Bang World Tour joke too. Booooo. At least U-Kiss will be performing... and I'm also sort of excited to see Secret. For those of you going, who're you excited to see?

Yesterday, I went to the Hyde Lounge for the Clippers vs. Mavericks game (c/o Yelp). Being a huge Clippers fan, I was pretty excited to attend a sold out game. We had box seats and while I've enjoyed games from much closer seats (100s sections), I found the view from box seats better due to the angle - I was actually watching the game on the court, instead of looking up at the screen. I actually stopped proclaiming myself as a fan at the end of last season and since then, the Clips have been doing extremely well... I'm hesitant to call myself a fan again in fear that I'm their bad luck haha. Two days ago, I told a friend that I was a fan, and the Clips lost last night's game! It's probably all in my head but it was so frustrating and heartbreaking to see them unable to catch up to the Mavs. But it's okay. Blake Griffin's still a beast.

I recently deleted my Facebook and stopped going on AOL Instant Messenger. It's weird how when you disappear from the internet, people think you've died or something. I'm currently on my two-week long spring break and enjoying this time away from school to catch up on some leisure reading, catch up with friends, and #winning at pool. I've also been purging my closet, so it feels good to have only basics with a few statement pieces now. I never have to think too long or hard about what to wear. I kind of love that.

Not much has changed over the past week, however, I do feel a lot better lately. I want to thank my readers for so much support; I really appreciate it. I recently found out that I will be able to graduate in June, which is amazing news to me since I was told by less-informed staff at my university that I still had another year to go. I'm super ecstatic! What else? Oh, being an avid horror/gore film junkie, I watched Saw 3D over the weekend and it was so good; the ending was totally unexpected and my mind was blown. I'm so happy this weekend's going to be a long weekend... this past weekend was way too short.

Missing in Action

This is what I've been doing lately. I don't think I've ever been this busy or stressed out in my life. About three weeks ago, my friend Derek and I were involved in a hit-and-run accident. Derek wouldn't allow them to leave so he jumped onto their hood and they drove off down the street and around the corner, where they proceeded to beat him. Aside from dealing with the authorities on both the hit-and-run and assault-and-battery, I've been extremely busy with school, exams, and "finding myself". The only time I've had to de-stress is on weekends where I just kind of drink and dance the night away to temporarily forget about my problems. Not healthy, but what else can I do? I've been trying to take outfit photos but I don't like taking night shots and don't have enough time during the day. Things should get back to normal soon though... at least I hope!

On a brighter note, how have you all been? I haven't been keeping up with the fashion blogging world and my Bloglovin' is a hot mess right now. Halloween's also coming up and I have no idea what to dress up as; I'm interested in hearing what your costumes will be!

First, I'd like to thank my readers for your feedback and support in regards to my last outfit post. Even if I don't personally know you, it feels good to know others care. I'm really thankful that you guys visit, comment, and revisit my blog time and time again - and I hope you continue to!

Here, I'm finally wearing one of my most prized possessions in my wardrobe. Aside from shoes, I don't really "love" anything in my closet or have ever invested in a piece of clothing because quite frankly, I think most clothes are disposable. With companies like Forever 21 (especially) and H&M allowing us to sport the latest trends for an affordable price, it's hard to come out of their stores empty-handed. I mean, why would you? You get to wear the trendiest & newest items without breaking the bank, but you also get what you pay for; and we all know Forever 21 doesn't always offer the best quality. Over time, I've come to realize that I need to invest in my wardrobe… purchase items that I love and most likely will not go out of style. It's always been a personal struggle of mine to buy (expensive) items of great quality because why would I want to spend $500 on one thing, when I can go to Forever 21 and have a field day with that kind of budget? However, as I become older, I find myself looking more and more for basic and/or investment pieces rather than trendy and disposable. It's hard to kick old habits as I still do buy trendy items quite often but at least I'm learning, right? When I saw this Vena Cava vest and fell in love, I knew I had to have it. It was way more than my usual budget, but it's perfectly structured to fall exactly the way I want it to on my body and will definitely be a great layering piece for fall/winter.

These Alexander Wang sandals are one of my favorite shoes... one of his best designs, in my opinion. However, I'd be lying if I told you they were just as comfortable. They are definitely dinner shoes - or for wherever you expect to sit for the majority of the time - since I can't bear to spend more than 30 minutes standing in them because the incline and arch of the heel is so steep. Such a shame because I really love them :( Also, my knees look a bit banged up here because a couple of days ago, I slipped down a small set of stairs and fell flat facedown on cement, banging my right arm on another side set of stairs and bruising both my knees, my shoulder, arm, and my pelvic bone. It was pretty bad since I was really sore, swollen in certain areas, and couldn't move a lot since almost every movement resulted in pain. You'd think I was wearing high heels when I fell, but no, I was wearing 1 inch heel cowboy boots... I'm just so clumsy nowadays.

P.S. My skin color is practically the same as the wall… lulz

Last Wednesday was my best friend's 21st. I didn't get to celebrate with her day of since we both had class the next day, but we celebrated yesterday and had so much fun. I surprised her with dinner at one of her favorite restaurants and then I took her to Exchange LA, a club in downtown LA which used to be the Stock Exchange building. Since she waited 21 years before taking her first sip of alcohol, she got drunk fast and pretty soon, we were taken to the "special VIP room", where everyone in said room was vomiting... My BFF wasn't allowed to leave until she threw up and could walk properly. Some girl was later brought in, crying and gasping for air violently, which was really scary to see. I thought maybe she was having an asthma attack at first but supposedly, a guy gave her a drink and after she drank it, she was seeing things and freaking out. The club ended up calling the medics because they didn't know what was in her system and she wasn't getting any better. Ladies, this is why you don't take drinks from strangers.

What Have I Become, My Sweetest Friend

About a month ago, I wrote about how I was presented with a situation that left me quite traumatized. What happened not only left me scarred but it eventually made me question who I am, what kind of person I am, and what my morals and values are. I've always been proud of the fact that I have a great sense of morality and respected myself for not doing certain things or falling into peer pressure as easily as some others do. When you hear stories about people you know getting accidentally pregnant in high school, having their identity stolen through credit card theft, or being raped, you never think it will happen to yourself. I was exactly that way; I always believed I was smart enough to not get into those type of situations. But I did, and now I'm confused about my sense of self, while feeling vulnerable and weak. I'm sure since I haven't exactly been very specific about what happened, many of you may not relate or understand but it's very scary to question what kind of person you are when you've always believed yourself to be a certain way and took pride in who you were - if that makes any sense.

How this relates to fashion is that I've also started questioning the way I dress and what my style is. I've always envied those who had a distinct look as it's something I've always believed I lack because I like many different looks, styles, and trends. But I've never been more confused as I am now... everything's building up and collectively, it's really draining me. It's just a really unsettling feeling to not know who you are and question everything you've thought you always knew about yourself. Anyway, here's an outfit that I thought I'd share with you guys. It's really different than what I normally wear but I wanted to try something different, thinking I'd possibly "find myself." I'm 95% sure that this isn't my style but it's good to try new things, right? I definitely felt like I was wearing a costume, so maybe I'll save something similar for Halloween...

I am not implying in my second paragraph that it is the victim's fault (in the case of rape), as one reader suggested. I would never blame the victim; my point was that when you haven't been in those type of situations, you usually think it would never happen to yourself because you're practical or smart enough to not allow yourself to be put in that type of situation. But when you're the victim, it's a completely different story. I am blaming myself for what happened and although close friends and counselors have told me it's not my fault, I can't help but think it is because I feel like I could've prevented the situation. I usually don't write a lot on this blog because I don't want backlash or to be judged, but I guess it's inevitable if I'm putting myself out there so publicly on the internet. And it's especially hard trying to explain how you feel and trying to hide what made you feel that way at the same time, because to be honest, I'm ashamed of what happened. I do hope one day, I'll have enough courage to share it with you.

One of my BFFs is remodeling and refurnishing his bedroom, so I took advantage of his newly emptied space. Walking into his old bedroom was like walking into a time machine back to the 90s; Gundam toys, toy car models, and Pokemon plush toys scattered around, with Pokemon posters plastered on his yellowing walls, including a Pokemon wall calendar from 1999. I finally convinced him it was time to redecorate since he wasn't a 10-year-old boy anymore, and then he decided he wanted to re-paint his walls and re-do the flooring as well. Can't wait to show you guys the before and after photos once the room is complete!

P.S. I recently discovered Top Combine... and I kind of, sort of love them.

Which is surprising for me since I don't listen to a lot of Mandarin pop, other than Jay Chou & JJ Lin.

SMTown LA Live '10

Last Saturday, I went to the SMTown Live concert at the Staples Center and it was the most amazing concert I'd ever been to. It was so fun! Super Junior and SHINee did not disappoint. However, I was disappointed with f(x) and "TVXQ"... my favorite member of f(x), Amber, wasn't there and neither were my 3 favorite members of TVXQ (true, they're not really part of the group anymore, but still). The weather here has changed from unbearably hot and humid to a complete cool down. This past weekend, my BFF and I decided to go to the beach since it was so sunny in our neighborhood. We figured it'd be nice to study, watch the sun set, and stars. Up until we actually got to Santa Monica, it was super sunny and bright everywhere. The minute we hit Culver City, it was overcast, foggy, and misty. Crazy! It didn't even feel like we were in California anymore. I'm happy it's gotten cooler (head start on wearing pieces from my fall wardrobe!), I'm just surprised by the sudden dramatic change.

Around 5:30 pm.

An hour and half later... couldn't see the ferris wheel or pier anymore!

By the way, I've decided to sell the Balenciaga cork platforms I shared three posts down. I thought I could get away with a 37.5, but they're noticeably big on my feet. Little Tokyo's Nisei Week

My friends and I went to the Nisei Festival in Little Tokyo a couple of weeks ago, but I never posted the photos... Figure I should now since they've been sitting on my desktop for some time now. It was my first (seems like there's been a lot of "first"s for me lately) time attending, so it was interesting to see the food and small goods booths, parade, and everyone out celebrating.

Afterwards, we bumped into my friend's friend, who happened to know Mirai Nagasu! Mirai's from my hometown, so I never really thought of her as a "celebrity," until I saw crowds of people running up, surrounding, and asking her for photos. It was pretty crazy...

This is officially my final exams week, but I only have one final on Thursday. I hope I do well, wish me luck! All this studying will pay off though 'cause SMTown Live is next weekend, which I'm super excited for! Good luck to everyone else who's also ~~cramming~~ studying this week :)

Surrender Yourself

Here are some shots from my trip to Las Vegas last weekend. It was the first time I actually went with friends and went clubbing as a 21-year-old! I swear everyone decided to go last weekend (for Kaskade and ATB), so the most popular nightclubs, XS at Wynn and Surrender at Encore, were ridiculously packed. It was exciting and definitely an experience to remember, and although I had a lot of fun, it wasn't really worth the drama that ensued...

2. My sister and I dining at Wing Lei at Wynn.

3. First night at Bellagio.

4. Second night at Aria... my favorite hotels on the strip are Wynn, Encore, Trump and THEhotel but since both nights were compensated, I can't complain much! ;)

5. The lobby ceiling at Bellagio.

6. The conservatory at Bellagio, which is where their 24-hour cafe is located in! It took us forever to find it since we thought it was in the casino... and kept going around in circles.

7. Due to very poor last minute planning and after waiting for 3 hours (even being on the guest list -_-), we finally got into Surrender! It was pretty nice, it being outside with pools, palm trees, and everything else in the middle.

I've been extremely busy with studying for finals, hence the hiatus! I can't believe I haven't blogged in over 10 days, crazy. Along with studying, I recently found myself in an unexpected situation which I'm quite traumatized from... I wish I could share it with you all, but it is much too personal. If you're friends with me on LiveJournal, then you probably already know somewhat. All I can say is that I hope I can heal from this ordeal properly and move on with my life. While I love fashion and shoes, blogging was seriously the last thing on my mind this past week... there are just so many other things much more important. This probably doesn't make sense since I'm not being very specific with details, but I hope to start regularly blogging again soon.

Meanwhile, here are some photos of my two most recent purchases (from 2 weeks ago) and my current favorites in my shoe collection.

1. Balenciaga cork platforms - yes, I finally got them! After stalking eBay for these babies, I finally found a pair I was happy with. They're EU 37.5 though, so they're a tiny bit big in length :(

On Friday, my friend and I went to the Barney's Warehouse Sale, held at the LA Convention Center, which only took us about an hour to find haha. It was the second time I'd ever attended (the first time sucked), so I wasn't expecting much. Boy, I was wrong! I walked out with these babies (and a pair of Opening Ceremony boots), 80% off retail price. I'm still in disbelief. I walked out of the convention center deliriously laughing because it was such a damn steal. Today's the last day, so I'm betting there will be even more markdowns. Koko Ni Iru Yo

Three words: easy, simple, comfortable. These wedges are now my go-to shoes when I'm feeling kind of lazy and gross but want to feel good about myself, while remaining somewhat stylish and comfortable with an extra bit of added height. I wasn't sure about purchasing them at first, since I tend to buy things on impulse, only to return the items later (like the Forever 21 Mulberry Alex knock-off). But I can safely say that I have absolute no regret - which is a huge improvement for me. Anyways, I'll leave you guys with one of my favorite songs at the moment... and I hope you guys have a nice week!

I've always been a fan of maxi dresses, admiring and envying taller girls who could pull them off without having the hem drag on the floor. Being 5'3 myself, I was always told short girls couldn't werk~ maxi dresses, which was why I never could bring myself to purchase one. When Shabby Apple sent me this dress, I was half disappointed and half excited - disappointed that I wasn't taller, but excited to finally be able to wear one and see if everyone who told me I couldn't pull it off was right. After wearing it, however, I don't even care if it looks good on me or not! It is by far one of. The. Most. Comfortable pieces in my closet. Although it's long and the color black usually doesn't really do me any favors underneath the blazing hot sun, I felt comfortable wearing it outside the entire day, enjoying the light breezes I felt through the super soft and thin material. This dress will definitely become a staple in my closet!

Last night, my friend celebrated his birthday at Yagura Ichiban in Little Tokyo and I had so much fun since I got to go home a little later around 2 am instead of my usual midnight curfew. You may have also noticed I'm wearing heels! Surprisingly, my left foot and sprained ankle felt no discomfort at all last night; and although the shoes are around 3" (half the height that I usually wear), I hope this means that my ankle is healing!

I actually switched out the wedges and purse for brown strappy sandals and an LV shoulder bag, before I left the house because my sprained ankle still hasn't healed. It's pretty bad... to the point where I was crying 'cause it was so stiff and painful the other night. I've been doing some ankle exercises and it's gotten a bit better. I just want to wear heels again as soon as possible!

Found and bought this Mulberry Alexa knock-off today at Forever 21. I was in awe at how similar it is to the original... (why couldn't they knock-off of the PS1 instead?!) Anyway, I'm not sure if I should keep it though since it's navy. What do you think? I do like the shape, but the Alexa is definitely not in my top 3, which consists of the Givenchy Nightingale, Proenza Schouler PS1, and Alexander Wang Rocco. What are you favorite handbags?

While I love 99% of everything Alexander Wang designs, I'm kind of iffy about the Resort 2011 shoe collection. The platform sandal in the top right corner is pretty ugly and reminds me of a Birkenstock sandal... totally not digging it. The rest is very reminiscent of Spring 2010, with a darker and muted color scheme. The lace-less oxfords have to be my favorite out of the entire collection. Your thoughts?

For the past few days, I've been really uninspired. For me, being depressed kind of goes hand-in-hand with that... but I'll save that for another post. Overall, I've been super stressed out with school and troubles with my car (30k mi maintenance, tires, etc.), so I haven't had much time to think about what I want to wear. I also sprained my ankle two months ago, which apparently never healed and got worse. I slabbed Tiger Balm all over it, wrapped it up, and am now limping around everywhere. SO SEXY. Anyways, this, has essentially been my uniform.

Notice anything different about the wedges? Yesterday, before I took these photos, I was browsing around H&M looking for a denim vest, when all of a sudden I noticed the back strap of my right shoe loosened. I looked down and what do you know... the strap broke off! It was only my third time wearing them :(

Staying home today since I don't feel good, while my sister is off watching Despicable Me and Inception with her friends. My parents just left for Saks in Beverly Hills. I hope Barney's isn't have a sale in-store right now, otherwise, I'm missing out...

Polish, Haircut & Jellies

I apologize for the slow down in posts... the weather here has been excruciatingly hot and humid (comparable to weather in Miami or Asia; very tropical), so my outfit for the past few days has just been a tank top, denim shorts, and sandals. Very boring. However, there are a few things I'm excited about:

1. New nail polish colors! I've never ventured out of basic colors such as black and red. And you can go ahead and lump gun metal and dark purple in with black, as they look so similar. I decided it was about time that I went and bought some light polishes to wear for the rest of summer. I'm currently wearing Carousel Coral on my fingers and Limo-Scene on my toes.

2. My new haircut! My sister and mother couldn't really tell the difference between before and after (you probably can't either) but oh well, I really like it. My hair was getting really thick and long, so it felt very heavy and was weighing me down. It honestly took me 15 minutes to dry my hair with a blowdryer every time I washed my hair. My hair stylist made subtle changes such as thinning it out (I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!), fixing/thinning out my messed up bangs, and layering the front, so it wasn't as heavy. I'm still debating with myself on whether or not I want to dye it.... I am so indecisive.

3. See By Chloe jelly sandals! I had been eying these for awhile since they match perfectly with a studded green cross-body bag of mine, and was totally disappointed when I missed my chance to get them online at Barney's for 60% off. Thankfully, I found them on eBay and got them for 75% off retail price! First eBay purchase ever and now I know why people love it so much haha. Sorry for the super bad quality cell phone picture.

Hopefully, I'll update with some outfits soon! It's kind of hard taking photos when my photographer is currently vacationing in Taiwan (so jealous), and I don't have a self-timer remote. I should probably get myself one of those.

I haven't been feeling all that ~inspired~ lately, so this is one of my casual, go-to looks when I don't really know what to wear. The weather down in So Cal has been really weird lately; it doesn't even feel like summer considering that it's been like 70 degrees Fahrenheit, windy, with overcasts. I'm also taking a break from wearing heels since my body - specifically my legs - has been extremely sore now that I'm actually working out and exercising again. Wore my favorite jellies... I know they're a hit or miss. Most people don't like them 'cause they think jellies are "childish" and uncomfortable but I like them and that's all that matters :)

Last Monday, after accompanying my parents on their weekend shopping excursions, we had dinner at Joy Mart in Little Tokyo. I've walked by the place many times before but it was my first time dining there, so if it weren't for my parents I would've never tried it. I really enjoyed it! They have a vast menu with a variety of dishes: ramen, udon, rice, sushi, sashimi, even Korean BBQ and Thai cuisine. Definitely going to go back soon...

Fourth of July

This is me truly stepping out of my comfort zone since I rarely wear super high platforms or the color red. It's not that I don't like red, in fact, I love the color. It looks great on everyone else, but me. I feel like since it's such a vibrant and attention-grabbing color, I don't want to stick out of a crowd that obviously. But I wore this dress on my birthday and I loved it... so here I am wearing it again, as a top! The Dany platforms were surprisingly easy to walk in, so I'm very happy with my purchase. Although these platforms are sexy as hell, it was kind of hard styling an outfit around them at first, since I didn't want to look like a hooker - which I hope I accomplished.

21st Birthday, Pt. 3

For my actual birthday on Saturday, I had dinner at Mi Piace in Old Town Pasadena. It was my second time there and I really enjoyed it. It's definitely becoming one of my favorite lunch and dinner spots in the Pasadena area. I must visit again soon! Afterwards, we went to Neomeze, a lounge and bar across the street.

21st Birthday, Pt. 2

The second night of my birthday weekend was celebrated by having a family dinner at Capital Seafood, going to Bar Louie's for a friend's 22nd, then Tea Station (surprise, surprise) with my friends. No photos were taken, so these photos were from the third day. I wore my new H&M tunic dress which after bringing home, I realized it was way too sheer to get away with not wearing a slip underneath. This resulted in me going on a 3-day mission to find a nude slip. If I knew how sheer the tunic was, I'm sure I wouldn't have bought it (darn those dim fitting room lights). We went to Urth Caffe on Melrose and I kept it simple by adding leopard accessories and jewelry.

My friend and photographer, Derek, surprised me with a copy of Max Brooks' The Zombie Survival Guide. If there's one thing you probably don't know about me, it's that I'm terrified of zombies. When I tell people this, I usually get one of two responses: "Why? They don't exist..." or "So do you like, not watch any zombie movies then?" I know zombies don't exist, but I believe humans are completely capable of (accidentally) creating a virus that could kill, then reanimate us. Of course, after a heated discussion and debate on whether or not that was plausible, my friends and I agreed that it wouldn't be a virus; that it would have to be a parasite and by the time there's a parasite that could kill and then reanimate dead muscles and flesh, the human population would probably already be half cyborgs and you, me, and everyone else we know would not be alive to witness a zombie apocalypse. So really, I have nothing to worry about. Yet, I'm still terrified. Either way, I already have a semi-elaborate plan figured out in case one does dawn upon us - and until then, I'll familiarize myself with the guide to further my chances of survival (lol). And the answer to the second question would be a no; I love zombie movies (and a video games!), my two favorite being Dawn of the Dead and 28 Weeks Later. With that, I'll leave you all the theme song of the latter. Such a good song, but it scares the crap out of me every time I hear it.

21st Birthday, Pt. 1

Last Saturday, I had lunch with my family at Guppy's in Hacienda Heights. Afterwards, on a whim, we decided to visit Hsi Lai Temple since we were in the neighborhood. I was pretty excited since I hadn't been there in awhile but as I was about to go into the main temple, I was suddenly stopped by an employee. Apparently, the shorts I was wearing were too short and they couldn't allow me to go in and pray. Fail. I never knew of this rule as I'd always worn denim jeans, but now I know for next time... Nonetheless, I enjoyed my time there; Hsi Lai Temple is one of the most peaceful places I know of.

The most memorable and fun thing about last summer was going to the beach every other weekend and having tea and playing various card games at Tea Station every Friday night with my best friend. If you live in the San Gabriel Valley and like tea/boba, you must visit TS if you haven't already! TS is hands down my favorite boba joint... I've gone 3 times already in the past 5 days. Which also probably means I'll be broke soon. This summer's going to be the same (with summer school in the picture) and I hope it's going to be twice as fun as last year's.

Ever since trying Savoy for the first time in 10 years, I've been craving it almost everyday! I remember hating the food there when I was a kid, but apparently my taste buds have changed. Even though Savoy is known for their Hainan Chicken dish, I ordered their Chicken Pasta which consists of garlic and tomato sauce. SO YUM. The quaint restaurant (with an outside patio perfect for people watching) is a bit of a drive for me, but I think it's worth it.

I've never actually bought anything from Topshop, so I'm not sure about the quality but I love their stuff for their Fall/Winter 2010 collection. My favorites include the studded bucket bag (only because I can't afford the MBMJ Pixie), chain bra detail over a simple tee (possible DIY?), Rick Owens-inspired leather vest, leather shorts, and scalloped shorts. I also kind of like the Balenciaga-inspired boots - not an exact rip off, but simply their interpretation. I can't wait until the collection is available! I hope the prices are affordable.

Check out these new Sam Edelman Zoyla boots - I first saw them on Dakota Fanning awhile back and fell in love with the stud detailing.

If I didn't already have the Zoe, I'd definitely cop these. They're available for pre-order on Singer 22 for $225.

On left are the Sam Edelman Zachary studded platform clogs, which I love 'cause of the Balenciaga-esque heel;

and on right are the Sam Edelman Faye leopard clogs, which I equally love as much since they're lace-up and leopard.

I find myself loving almost anything leopard nowadays.

It's been so windy and cold lately. I can't wait for summer but I'm already regretting writing this because I dislike hot weather, too. My idea of perfect weather would probably be around 75-80 degrees with 5-10mph winds. That would be PERFECT. Too bad summer will consist of 90-100 degrees weather, where I feel like I'm going to melt and sweat to death.

As for this outfit, I'm never wearing this shirt tunic thing as a dress ever again since it's super sheer and makes me feel kinda self-conscious. It also did not keep me very warm... but that's probably my own fault for not bringing a jacket haha. Wearing these super tight sheer over-the-knee socks also made me realize I have to start eating less and working out more 'cause I could not feel the blood in my thighs circulate.

One of my favorite things about California is that we have In 'N Out (now available in Nevada, Arizona, and Utah!). Seriously, hands down the best burgers and fries - and reasonably priced too. Whenever I go to other fast-food joints like Carl's Jr., I'm always in disbelief how much their burgers cost, it's ridiculous. I am in no way endorsing In 'N Out; I just love their food :) A definite must-visit if you're ever in the area.

My sister's 16th birthday was on Monday and since it was a school night, we celebrated small by having dinner at her favorite Japanese restaurant, Gin Sushi, in Pasadena. For the past few days, I've been living in this H&M t-shirt dress that I got on sale for $10 awhile ago. I decided to finally take it out of the closet and haven't stopped wearing it since then. IT'S SO EASY TO WEAR and is the epitome of comfort and breezy. The length is kind of awkward and unflattering, but that's what I love about it (no need to worry about accidentally giving someone a free show when sitting or bending over). The fabric is super soft as well.

Speaking of birthdays, my 21st is coming up soon and I'm not sure what to do.

I have a couple of ideas but there's all these pros and cons with each. I'd love to hear your input!

1) Las Vegas - So cliche, but this is the only place I can party without having a curfew... however, I have lots of friends who turn 21 waaay after me, so they probably won't come. Unless I throw a hotel suite party? But, my birthday weekend also happens to be on EDC weekend; and another friend is also throwing her 21st in Vegas just two weeks after, so I'm not sure if our mutual friends would be willing to go twice within one month.

2) Lucky Strike Bowling - This seems to be the best option right now. Bowling and drinking? Sounds like fun haha. The only issue would be that my underage friends would have to arrive and get into the venue before they start carding. And this place seems to be kinda pricy...

3) Go to a bar/lounge/club. But really, that's not my thing. Plus, I'd have to find one where they don't card. I know a couple in the area but they're not that great.

4) Do "nothing" and celebrate small with just family and dinner with friends. Maybe go to Disneyland and finally renew my annual pass?

Last Saturday, my friends and I walked around on Robertson Blvd. for the first time. I couldn't believe I had been to almost every nook and cranny in LA, but Robertson. They even had an LF store, which I was pretty excited about. I had gone there originally to look for a Mother's Day gift at Intermix, but that didn't quite work out. We did, however, end up dining at the Ivy. The food was good but not good enough to go back again, since it was also really pricey...

Last Thursday, I attended the 5 Second Film Festival hosted by Claremont Community College and it exceeded my expectations. The films shown were anywhere from 5 seconds (really lol) to 20 minutes and included comedies, drama, and animation. I had a few favorites but I wanted to share with you guys one that was hilarious (no embedding) and one that really blew me out of the water. The Butterfly Circus was not only beautiful in cinematography but the story was truly inspirational.

I haven't done one of these knock-off posts in awhile, so I decided to make one for old times sake. While browsing through the internet, I quickly remembered how easy it is to spot knock-offs of high-end shoes because, well, it seems like brands like Steve Madden are no longer "inspired" by but just blatantly and shamelessly copying other designers' works. As a consumer, I can't complain - I do love myself an affordable deal. However, I can't help but still feel bad for the original designers. But what's a college girl with a budget to do? How do you feel on this issue?

The ones that really surprised me were the Miu Miu clogs. Just yesterday, I was looking at the collection and wondered how soon knock-offs would be poppin' up on the internet and what do you know... Bravo to you, Steve. On a separate note, I feel like doing a giveaway soon; probably jewelry related. I'll keep you guys posted :) Also, I found this the other day: Moschino Coca-Cola bottles, so cute!

I've always wanted to eat at Mi Piace in Old Town Pasadena for as long as I could remember but for some reason never did. I finally had my chance last Saturday, and was not disappointed. Sitting outside on the patio was perfect for people watching, one of my favorite things to do.

The ravioli with shredded beef was absolutely delicious. Five pieces definitely wasn't enough :(

Afterwards, we headed out to Santa Monica for Urth Caffe. It's a lot bigger than the one on Melrose, but I like the atmosphere at Melrose better. I got the Napoleon, of course - I'd been craving it for two weeks!

My friend got the cheesecake and it was just as yummy!

It was my friend Reggie's 21st birthday, so we went to his house birthday party in Cerritos afterwards. Too bad we were there for only an hour before the police came to shut it down; 4 squad cars (including an SUV) arrived to kick everyone out and a police helicopter was also spotlighting the house. A bit dramatic, don't you think? With nothing else to do on a Saturday night, we headed out to Irvine to visit our friend, Keita.

His friend's dog, Kuro, was so adorable. I really liked him.

And as you can tell, he really liked me too. Or really, my arm... hahah.

I forgot to post the photos I took from dinner at Jitlada in Hollywood last week. I've never been a fan of Thai cuisine cos the flavors are always too strong for me to handle, but after eating here, I've fallen in love. Everything tasted perfect, never too sweet, sour, or bland. Ugh, talking about it makes me want some now!

On Friday, my friend and I went to several Urban Outfitters to hunt down a pair of shoes in my size. From Burbank to La Cahuenga and Melrose to Santa Monica. A lot of driving but was well worth it and sorta kinda fun. Finally, after a long day, we decided to have dinner at Musha on Wilshire in Santa Monica. It's not exactly an authentic Japanese restaurant (more mixed and fused), but still delicious nonetheless.

The Lobster Roll would've been delicious if I liked wasabi in my rolls.

I forget what kind of Croquette (mash potato?) this was, since they had several on their menu. But it was my first time having croquette and it was delicious; especially dipped in the sauce served. The drunk girls next to us (who kept complimenting how beautiful my hair was haha) apparently didn't think so since they said it was nasty and asked the server to take it back.

The Itame Somen was by far the biggest surprise: garlic in Japanese cuisine? Since when?! I was kinda of skeptical but it was really, really, really yummy. Super light, with just enough flavor and spice. Nom nom nom!

With nothing to do on Easter Sunday, my friend and photographer Derek headed out to Irvine (where he's based) to visit our friend Keita. I had been told there was a really unique shopping plaza in Costa Mesa called The Lab, so we stopped by on the way... all the stores were already closed for the day but the space design of the "anti-mall" was really interesting. I do want to visit again soon when they're open, so I can actually do some shopping, haha.

For dinner, we decided on Guppy's, which I tried for the first time. They're known for their shaved ice & fruit desserts, so I didn't go in with really high expectations for their food. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it, especially because they give HUGE proportions. I must go back soon!

Spring break's over and it's back to school I go this week :( It was fun while it lasted though! I consumed more alcohol than I've ever had and although I felt terrible afterwards, I still had a good time haha. Hm, I'm taking a whole bunch of core classes (17 units total) and I have a feeling I'm going to be super stressed out by midterms week... oh well, I'm prepared for it. I can't wait for this summer though - I was kind of sad when I found out I wasn't going back to Taiwan but hanging out everyday by the beach, having bonfires, barbecues, hosting pool parties, and finally turning 21 in the good company of friends doesn't sound too shabby. That is, if I decide to not take summer school... Hopefully, if everything works out, I can fit in visiting Korea, too. Yeeee, I'm excited!

LA Fashion Week

Earlier tonight, my friend Lucy and I viewed the B Scott and Fremont runway presentations and Elmer Ave and Farm Tactics installations. Since it was my first time ever attending LA Fashion Week, it was a really exciting and positive experience. The installations were interesting but unimpressive, which was also how I felt about B Scott. The collection was very small and nothing really stood out except for the structural jackets. However, I really enjoyed Fremont's presentation since the collection was very Alexander Wang and just my cup of tea.

I had been fighting a lot with my sister and father, so things weren't so smooth at home. Thankfully, the chaos has died down a bit. Derek and I decided to get out of our city and explore L.A., which was seriously what I needed. We drove around and cruised up and down Melrose, which I hadn't visited since late 2007. We also had dinner at Pizzeria Mozza, which was delicious, but the photos didn't come out that great, so next time! Definitely recommended.

Pretty boring and casual, but this is what I wore on my last day of the Winter quarter to turn in my papers. After my friend finished his final, we grabbed some food at Din Tai Fung. Today was sooo hot, I was melting in my beanie but I didn't want to take it off due to having "hat hair". This top by the way, is by far, one of my favorite purchases as of late. It's super comfy, light, and perfect for hot and sweaty weather.

My friend and I headed to the L.A. Natural History Museum (extra credit for a class) and to my surprise, the Gems exhibit was pretty cool.

The Kazanjian Red Diamond - 5.05 carats; Lichtenburg, South Africa; on loan from the Kazanjian Foundation.

"The diamond was discovered in 1927 on a farm near Lichtenburg in South Africa not long after a diamond rush brought 6,000 people to the area. The original nondescript 35 carat chunk of rough was purchased for the equivalent of about $40 per carat.

The diamond was confiscated by the Nazis in 1944 during their occupation of the Netherlands. At the end of WWII, the diamond was recovered by troops under U.S. General Joseph McNarney from a salt mine near Hitler's retreat in Bavaria. The General mistook it for a ruby.

The original rough was cut into the 5.05 carat finished gem by the Goudvis brothers of Amsterdam. After being recovered from the Nazis at the end of WWII, the diamond was acquired by Sir Ernest Oppenheimer and then by the Royal Asscher Diamond Co. The stone remained hidden in a private collection from 1970 until it was purchased by the Kazanjians in 2007.

Red is generally considered to be the rarest of all diamond colors. Only three faceted red diamonds over 5 carats are known: the trilliant shaped 5.11 carat Moussaleff Red, the emerald-cut 5.05 carat Kazanjian Red and the round-brilliant 5.03 carat De Young Red."

Hey guys! Been MIA for awhile 'cause I've been busy studying for finals, so I'm taking a break, doing a quick post, and saying hi :) After Monday, I'm going to be free and on spring break for two weeks, yeeee! So excited even though I don't have anything solid planned. I got a new pair of glasses (shown above) which I'm pretty excited about since I've had my previous pair for nearly 10 years.

A black drape-y cardigan and knit scarf thrown over a top and jeans, worn with oxfords, has been my uniform for the past several days. I just feel too tired emotionally and physically to put any thought into what I wear now, since I've been having a lot of issues aka unnecessary drama within my circle of friends :/ Hopefully, this will all pass and I can move on. Soon.

School's over in roughly 3 weeks... part of me is excited for Spring Break, but another part of me is dreading Spring Quarter 'cause I have a bunch of tough core classes for my major. Back to being super stressed over school work. Boo! The weather has been sort of wack lately. One day it's raining, the next it's like 80 degrees. It's hard to keep track of the weather and dress accordingly, which made me realize I need more casual jackets to throw over my outfits when it gets chilly 'cause aside from this DIY I'm wearing above, I have zilch.

A little late, but do any of you follow the winter Olympics? One of the figure skaters, Mirai Nagasu, made her debut and placed 4th! She's from my city and my sister knows her, so it was both really weird and cool seeing a local competing at the Olympics. Super talented, I must say... and if she's already placed 4th, then there's no doubt she'll medal in 2014. And Kim Yu-Na was crazy good. Tough act to follow, so I felt a bit sorry for Mao Asada.

Got some sushi with my friend Roger the other day at Gin Sushi in Pasadena and YUM. My favorite dish there? The Lobster Roll!

It's basically lobster and crawfish piled over California cut rolls. The sauce that comes with it is SOOO good. On the right is my friend's order of Philadelphia cut roll. In my opinion, that tastes freaking nasty.

Also, I just bought tickets for the Korean Music Festival. Hehehe, I'm so excited!
